Kid's Top Forecasted Graphics 2016
Courtesy of Fashion Snoops
Take a first look at the top kids graphic trends for Spring/Summer 16 as forecasted by Fashion Snoops. For girls, we see a large influx of nature inspired graphics. Animals are of course a go-to and for Spring we look at our favorite humble pets. For boys, we have brought together the strongest graphic expressions, inspired by the runways and our current surroundings - from our love of travel and the ocean, to a love of hand drawn conversationals. Novelists, artists and destinations have all been part of our research, strengthening each call out.
Girls’ Trend Direction
For Girls Spring 2016 graphics we see a large influx of Nature inspired graphics. Animals are of course a go-to and for Spring we look at our favorite humble pets. Newness comes from the underwater sea creatures we are seeing as illustrated and photo real versions are equally relevant. Key images, which are most fitting and fresh for girls include jellyfish, seahorses, coral and koi fish.
Nature’s Lens
Nature’s Lens has evolved from Ethereal Magic as we focused on the freshest aesthetic that looks to the fine details and beauty of Mother Nature. We look under our microscope at a zoomed-in version of leaves, flowers, fruit and bugs. Butterflies are exceptionally vital for girls and the color palette is of soft citrus. Scientific sketches are also relevant, as botany study is rife for SS16. This graphic story complements our Live Visionary story.
Sea Creatures
This trend is great for all ages, allowing for great variation in design and medium used. Illustrated and photo real versions are equally relevant. Key images, which are most fitting for girls, and also offer something new include jellyfish, seahorses, coral and koi fish. The fish takes on a particularly Asian sensibility.
Story Time
Story Time is one of the most directional trends of the season, open to many interpretations. Here we see the clothing telling a story. Its like a modern take on toil de jouy, as we see little scenes play out on our girls silhouettes. Each print has a particular style, although always illustrated, as we see little characters in the world they live in. We were particularly enthralled by the idea of synchronized swimmers and the color palette is decidedly pastel.
Boys’ Trend Direction
For Spring 2016 we have brought together the strongest graphic expressions for boys, inspired by the runway, our current surroundings and what is particularly inspiring us right now. From our love of travel and the ocean, to a love of hand drawn conversationals- novelists, artists and destinations have all been part of our research, strengthening each call out.
Sea Life
One of the strongest pattern expressions for Spring, Travelers Notebook takes us on an adventurous tour of vast places as we imagine being a travel writer; of all the places we would travel to and of all the encounters we would jot down. Map prints are still relevant, although postage stamps and hand-written notes are what is inspiring us. Trompe-Loeil designs of backpacks and travel essentials are also a nice addition for boys.
Traveler’s Notebook

Tropical Vacation
The moody undercurrent to the tropical theme was what inspired us for boys. The imagery is of the expected hibiscus florals, palm leaves and tropical birds, but the color palette is muted and less saturated.
